Roxy

So what did Howard make for me last week? Roxy!
Last week, Howard and I were downtown for brunch at the Gladstone Hotel. After, we walked around Eaton Centre and some surrounding stores. At Urban Outfitters, we saw cupcake bandages, cupcake lip gloss, and do-it-yourself toys! I totally resisted the cupcake merchandises and we got the toy.
So we bought one in the colour white and back at home, Howard designed and painted mine. He named her Roxy and she is a cute little cupcake baker! We even have matching oven mitts, he painted them the exact blue.
I think that she's adorable. Have you checked out her cute little bum? And the little belly - from all the baked goods!
I think she will bring me much delight in the kitchen! =)

Mini Cupcakes with Mini Eggs

Do you have a favourite seasonal candy? I have to say that I get a teeny tiny bit happy when I see Cadbury Mini Eggs back on the shelves!! I love the candy coated chocolates, in delicious egg-shaped bite sizes, and pretty speckled pastel colours! It is a good thing they're not made all year around!

It felt very Spring-like this weekend with all the drizzling rain. I attended a book launch on Saturday for Bradley McGogg, The Very Fine Frog. There was Cadbury mini eggs at this book launch too! Bradley McGogg is a picture book is about a finicky eater... but I wonder if Bradley would approve of cupcakes? For fun, I made some mini vanilla cupcakes with chocolate buttercream and a Cadbury mini egg nested in the middle!

Yellow, pink, and green!

Yummy mini cupcakes with mini eggs!

This is how I carry them to work!

Paris-Themed Bridal Shower Cupcakes

Someone is getting married!

No, not us! But, the bridal shower is a Parisian theme! Very cool right?!? Naturally, the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe come to mind. So we took on the challenge and managed to create them in fondant. This was no easy task, it took some thinking... but we're pretty pleased with the way they came out. The Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe were all handmade - we couldn't find a Eiffel Tower and Arc De Triomphe fondant cutter unfortunately. These decorations also needed to be dried on powdered sugar, otherwise the tower will droop! And more sugar doesn't hurt, right?

The pink and green buttercream colours are inspired from Ladurée, a patisseries in Paris.

Bridal showers are all about the amour!

And who can forget the ooh la la!

The famous Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe!

The fondant decorations are resting on vanilla buttercream and chocolate cupcakes.

What a beautiful sunny day for a bridal shower! Sigh...

Leftover buttercream pour moi!
