ReplyDeleteOne question on the topic of cupcakes and forgive me if you have answered this before but I always think of red velvet cupcakes as having a cream cheese frosting. I don't think I have ever had it with buttercream....what do you think?
Congrats again!
;) amy
Calm In The Kitchen - Thanks, but the article is not just about us! Regarding your question, we've tried the Confetti Cake red velvet recipe and it went well with buttercream. Although you're right, red velvet cake is most commonly paired with cream cheese frosting. To us, it was simply red tinted chocolate cake, but we would love to hear your description of how red velvet tastes like! We're still confused about how a true red velvet tastes like! =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the thoughts! The first person mentioned in the article used buttercream and I had never even thought to do that.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to describe the red velvet...that is a good one! I use Paula Deen's Recipe which uses white vinegar and buttermilk, I'll have to consult the Confetti Cake recipe and see the differences. I'm getting read to do some for a bake sale at my daughter's school so maybe I'll just do a tasteoff and see!
Calm In The Kitchen - Hmmm. I think I'll have to try Paula Deen's recipe then! The Confetti Cake one used vinegar and buttermilk too. Have you done a red velvet taste off yet?
