Shake Shack

Shake Shack (Theatre District)
691 8th Avenue
New York, NY 10036
(646) 435-0135

The plan after watching Wicked was to make our way South. A little bit of Macy's and then Madison Square Park for a Shake Shack dinner. That didn't quite happen, but we still got to try Shake Shack.

Why a burger joint? Well, we kept seeing it pop up on Foodspotting as the best food to try in New York. We had looked at the menu beforehand and it reminded me of the recently opened Burger's Priest in Toronto. So, if you like Burger's Priest, make sure you check out Shake Shack!

Not surprised, there was a line-up at Shake Shack, but they were very organized. There's the long line that everyone was in to order burgers. But, if you wanted to grab a souvenir, drink, shake, or concrete, there's a separate shorter "C line."

When we joined the line, we were greeted by a staff member who also handed us a menu. Quite efficient as this cuts back on indecisive people at the cashier.

After you order, you get an electronic buzzer that will light up when your order is ready for pick-up.

Seating is limited, but people are often courteous and did not overstay their welcome. Staff members were around to clean the tables and make sure that guests with food were able to get a seat.

Here is my Shack Stack! A cheeseburger and a 'shroom burger topped with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce. The 'shroom is a crisp-fried portobello filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheese. Delish!

Howard tried the Double ShackBurger: American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce. Mine was better. =P

Crinkle fries! Now that I think about it, we should have went for the cheese fries.

Not pictured, but we had the The Arnold Palmer to quench our thirst. Half lemonade and half iced tea! One of the nice features is Shake Shack's water station. You can fill up your bottle or cup with water, no need to line up and ask.

I still wanted to visit the original location, so the next day, we went over to Madison Square Park to try their concrete.

Here I am with the Concrete Jungle: vanilla custard, hot fudge, bananas, and peanut butter. Yummy!
