Sweet Revenge

The first dessert place Howard and I tried in New York this year was Sweet Revenge. It is kind of crazy how many great places there are to eat around Carmine Street and Bleeker Street. I picked it because their cupcake menu has some great flavour parings that I wanted to try.

62 Carmine Street
New York, NY 10014
(212) 242-2240

We're here! It's such a homey place even if the word "revenge" is in the name. I love the wooden frames and the giant open windows.

Service was nice and friendly. Do you see the bakery display case?

Here's a closer look! It's interesting that they present their cupcakes in a different way. With so many cupcake shops in New York, I thought it was smart of them to use a non-traditional cupcake liner and show off their frosting in a unique way.

Remember how I said there were other places close by that we wanted to try? We had initially said we'd try one cupcake, but then Howard went and ordered another! He got one of the signature cupcakes - the Sweet Revenge - a peanut butter cupcake with ganache filling, topped with peanut butter fudge frosting.

I had come for the Bird of Paradise – a lime chiffon cake with mango buttercream topped with fresh lime zest, but it wasn't available that day. So I went with the Very Strawberry – a Mexican vanilla cupcake with strawberries and topped with a strawberry cream cheese frosting.

Oops, we took Domo out when we finished our cupcakes - sorry!

  1. these are stunning1 I'd love to go to New York just to look at cupcakes!

    Nom! x

  2. Nom, you should do it! It's so much fun visiting cupcake shops in NY! =)

  3. wow! Those cupcakes have a very distinctly rustic look, don't they? I think it's neat!! They sound good too... ! I am also loving their storefront with all the tall windows and weathered wood. Great!

  4. lyndsay, now that I think about it, they do! The rustic cupcake look really fits with their restaurant decor. =)

  5. The raspberry cupcakes look so delicious! Do they sell gluten free desserts? I'm cutting back on sweets.

  6. Hi Leila,

I'm not sure if they have gluten free desserts, it'll be best to contact them. I can't find any mentions on their website.

  7. I haven't tried a vegan spiced cake before. Sounds delicious. I hope I could find a baker that sells this type of dessert in our city. These gluten free desserts are both enticing and delicious indeed.

  8. The Crimson and Cream cupcakes looks so sumptuous. I wish I could have a bite. Even though my nutritionist Long Island told me to look after my diet, cupcakes as delicious-looking like these ones are so hard to resist.

  9. I would definitely looking forward to try Sweet Revenge during my visit to New York next month. The cupcakes looks very delicious. Would you happen to know if the shop uses gluten free ingredients? Or are there any other gluten free store around the town?
