Empire Cake

On our way to dinner, we spotted this bakery across the street! Doing a quick glance of the street, we crossed safely over to investigate. Empire Cake is on at 112 8th Avenue, just a couple of blocks from Chelsea Market and the High Line. You probably have a good sense of our itinerary that day. We pretty much stuck to the west end of Manhattan.

It looks like Angry Bird cakes are quite popular this year! We're more of a Plants vs. Zombies fan ourselves.

Isn't this one adorable? Thumbs up for their window display, from the streamers to the cake stand, this Madagascar cake is amazing! We like to move it, move it!

Inside, the back wall showcases more of their cake-decorating talent.

Now comes the tough part. What will we try? Small treats?

Or big treats?

These "snowballs" look fun and very tempting...

But they have cupcakes and we can't resist cupcakes!

So our pre-dinner dessert was a vanilla crème cupcake with raspberry buttercream and lemon curd filling. I'm so glad we stopped here, after all, I eat desserts first!
