Cochon Butcher

930 Tchoupitoulas Street
New Orleans, LA 70130
(504) 588-PORK

Oh Cochon Butcher, how we miss you! This place was highly recommended to us and everyone else at the conference. As you can see, it is a very popular lunch destination, since it is very close to the convention center too. We waited in line because I wasn't going to visit New Orleans and not try Butcher (Cochon next door was closed for lunch service on Saturday).

I think the first thing you'll notice walking in is the smell of meat. Trust us when we say that when you walk out, your clothes will be basked in the scent as well.

There is seating, and even in the crowded space and heat, the service was excellent.

You know it's a special place when they make pretzels stuffed with ham and gruyère.

Howard and I tried the duck pastrami sliders, which were delicious.

He then got the special of the day, smoked country sausage with smothered peppers, onion, and provolone, served with a side of chips. Yum!

I tried the pork belly on white bread with mint, cucumber, and chili lime aioli. This was hands down the best sandwich I have ever eaten. For me, it was the cucumber and pork belly combination that blew me away!

We were so happy and full that Howard bought a Butcher T-shirt. This was his only souvenir from the trip! Who dat!

This was also the only place we went back to twice on our trip. On our last day there, Howard got take out lunches for us because we had to quickly pack up our stand and catch our flight. We tried the sweet and spicy brisket sliders, the cubano sandwich (which was also really good), and the Carolina style BBQ pork with potato salad. Sorry, we didn't take photos!
